  •  History

Little Flippers Swim Academy originally began in West Jordan opening in June of 2008.  After 7 amazing seasons, we relocated to Lehi, Utah in August of 2015 and opened for swimming lessons in June,  2016 under the name:  Life Skills Academy, LLC, dba Little Flippers Swim Academy.

We are a small, personalized business with classes taught by Kylee, Lexi, McKenzi and Trent Hunt.   All Instructors are American Red-Cross Water Safety Instructor Certified.  Our out-door pool is an in-ground fiberglass pool with salt-water chlorination system.  This system is much easier on eyes and hair than chlorination systems found in most commercial pools.

Our pool is enclosed which allows us to be a little more protected on bad weather days.

Trent is a Red-Cross Water Safety Instructor. His love of the water and teaching began years ago in Lawton, Oklahoma when he managed a summer camp for kids and taught swim lessons. He loves being able to teach kids how to be safe in the water. Trent has a B.S. Degree in Industrial and Mechanical Engineering and works as a Sales Engineer by day.  Trent has also taught an evening class at BYU in Engineering/Construction Trades.

Valerie has formerly worked as an Executive Secretary, has graduated from the University of Utah with a Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology and worked for Jordan District and Primary Children's Outpatient Rehab for a combined total of 10 years.  She enjoys being Trent's Business Manager and partner.  Valerie provides Speech/Language therapy through Life Skills Academy, LLC.

Our daughters have all completed level VI and assist us in the pool during their growing up years.

Kylee is graduating from Skyridge HS Class of 2024  and was our quickest student to advance, passing level 6 at age 7.  She has been on the Lehi City Aquatics Club Swim Team since 2018 and has been on Skyridge High School's swim team since 2020 as well.  She made it to State 2024 where the Skyridge HS Boys Team took first and the Girls took 2nd in State.  Kylee received her Water Safety Instructor Training Certification in Spring 2023 and her Lifeguard Trainer Certification in Winter 2024.  You might see her Head Life Guarding for Lehi City at the Outdoor Pool during the summer or Recreation Center the rest of the year.  Kylee is headed to the University of Utah to study  Pre-Architecture Fall 2024.

Lexi began life guarding for Lehi City in January of 2019 and completed her Water Safety Instructor Training in June 2020.   Lexi has been assisting Trent and McKenzi for years in the pool. She was a member of Skyridge High School's Swim Team 2018-2020.  She served as a lifeguard 2018-2020, a Head Life Guard at Camp Williams, Legacy Center, Pool Manager Camp Williams Summer 2022. Lexi graduated from Skyridge High School and Mountainland Technical University two year Culinary Arts Program May 2022.  Lexi married Bryson Newman September 2023 and now lives in Payson.  While she is not teaching regularly for us this year, we may talk her in to subbing/assisting on occasion.

McKenzi has lifeguarded at the Legacy Center since May, 2016.   She completed the Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) class in May, 2017 and taught for us up until leaving for a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  She worked as a pool manager for the Legacy Center and Lehi Outdoor pool and at the Missionary Training Center as a Social Media coordinator following her mission.  She married Jorge Flores February 2023 and currently lives in BYU Married Housing while she finishes her degree in Advertising.  While McKenzi is not planning to teach for us this summer, she may be willing/able to sub for us in an emergency.
